The aim of this course is to instruct building technicians, foremen and contractors as well as steel-fixers, form workers and other professionals employed by the construction industry to familiarize themselves with accurate interpretation and correct application of all kinds of architectural, structural and electromechanical drawings provided by the respective engineers and architects. Also, to acquaint participants with the various scales used in drawings and apply some of the most common scales to prepare the plan and cross-section of a simple building.
This training program aims at giving the participants all necessary data and techniques to enable them prepare the necessary Bill of Quantities for Road Construction Projects using at all times related working drawings such as longitudinal sections of a road, cross sections with or without contours, detailed drawings for culverts, bridges, retaining walls and services. Importance is also given to the correct estimation of earthworks and machinery costs as well as to other factors affecting seriously the cost of a road construction project such as type of soil to be removed, distance to be transported and compacted, services available in the project area, cost of subcontracted work(s) and material costs. The program is addressed to Road Contractors and Sub-Contractors, Technical Assistants and Foremen employed as supervisors in Road Construction Projects and related structures both in the private and public sectors.
The objective of this training program is to supply the participants with the knowledge required to calculate, draw set out and construct all types of staircases and arches.
The teaching material includes formulae used for calculating stairs, in confined and unconfined areas. also, using geometrical constructions, participants learn how to draw on scale any type of arch and simultaneously they experience practical ways of setting out these arches on site. When necessity arises, participants are taken to specific site where they get the chance to see on under constriction staircase (usually helical) where all queries are answered.
The programme is addressed to form workers, contractors, supervisors and building technicians.
The aim of this training program is to make participants conversant with all factors interfering in studying and finally marking out a road both on plans and also on site. Further on, participants learn how to prepare longitudinal and cross sections of a road and also estimate quantities of earthworks. This program covers also related material such as construction of retaining walls and drainage works in road construction. Also, calculation of culvert cross section areas in relation to the catchments area. It is addressed to Foremen, Supervisors and Technicians involved with road construction both of the Public and Private sectors.
The aim of the course is to train the participants on the basic operations of the Total Station instrument and the on-hand practice for curvature measurements, distances, height differences and slopes. The course is addressed to young Civil Engineers, Foremen, Supervisors and Technicians of building and road works.
The purpose of the programme is to familiarize processionals working in the building industry with those mathematics and geometrical constructions needed for easy, accurate and quick execution of the work they have to do both on the site and also when programming their work. The essence of both maths and geometry in making their lives easier on the job floor is explained to participants and numerous examples from the building industry are illustrated. This program is suitable for all tradesmen, and Subcontractors of the construction industry.
This training program aims at giving the participants all necessary data and techniques to enable them prepare the necessary Bill of Quantities using working drawings. Also to enhance their knowledge and experience towards implementing proper ways to reach a unit price for each item involved in a building contract. This is achieved by adopting the proper procedure to be followed when preparing the cost calculation of a building project, by continuously using structural drawings and the special forms, though stressing the necessity the estimator to be at all times acquainted with current material costs, machinery output and labour expenditure. The program is addressed to Building Contractors and Sub-contractors, Technical Assistants and Foremen of the Building Industry.
The objective of this training program is to give participants all necessary information, training, expertise and techniques that a person in charge of a construction project should posses in order to be able to exercise technical and managerial supervision on the site in such a way as to maximize the output and quality of works of the personal and plant under his guidance.
The course material covers among others wide range of abilities that a supervisor of a construction project should posses as well as a broad knowledge on the qualities and tests of material used, acquaintance with the specifications of the most commonly used materials and also site management techniques.
The programme is addressed to Foremen, Acting Foremen, young contractors, Supervisors and potential technicians
The aim of the course is the training of professionals in the construction industry on Health and Safety issues so as to contribute in the evasion of accidents, occupational illnesses and dangerous happenings by applying the principles of prevention from the initial stages until the completion of works. The course is addressed to Foremen, Technicians and Supervisors of building and road works for both Private as well as Public sector.
If fact, this training program is an extension of the previous course, and it covers the areas of foundationing and asphalting a road. Participants get to know ways and materials used for the foundation works, material specifications and testing of these materials with reference to the types of aggregates available. The program enters upon road surfacing methods and materials used, as well as testing of asphalt, surfacing materials and compaction. Laboratory testing of paving slabs, curbs and drain piper is also included in the program.
The course is addressed to Foremen, Supervisors and Technicians involved with road construction, both in the public and private Sectors.
This training program aims at rendering the participants able to adjust a level and extensively use it in surveying. Theory and match practical training is provided whilst participants are asked, in groups of three, to work extensively outdoor exercises until they fully familiarize themselves with setting a Level, taking readings and recording them as foresights, backsights or intermediate sights. Also to learn how to tabulate and relate readings to fixed points, and figure out height differences among all points in a survey. Draw a longitudinal section of a proposed road - with given parameters - draw cross-sections and estimate earthworks. The course is addressed to foremen, technical assistants and young engineers engaged in building and road construction.
The aim of this training course is to provide the participants with such knowledge and skills so as to enable them by using the proper drawings to set out a building in the plot provided, irrespective of shape.
The programme’s material includes among others, geometrical constructions relevant to what is needed for setting out a building and training on the use of the optical square. Also extensive practical works on the techniques applied for setting out buildings in plots of regular and irregular shape.
The program is addressed to Young Constructors, Foremen and assistant Foremen as well as technicians.
The aim of this course is to train the participants on the methods for testing the various building materials and to comprehend the necessity of carrying out these tests. The course is addressed to contractors, supervisors and foremen of the industry (buildings and road construction) and includes demonstration of the methods of material testing in a laboratory.
The purpose of this is to give a better understanding of the various technical terms and specifications in order to create better communication skills with the supervisors and senior technical staff using the correct terminology.
