Diploma course for Road and Building Technical Assistants / Foremen

Themistocleon Vocational Training Institute is conducting a pioneered educational course for the Cypriot Industry in training Foremen for the Building and Road Works.

Objectives

The objective of the course is to give the opportunity to young individuals who are employed in the Construction industry to acquire a complete training so that they can responsibly undertake the management of a worksite.

The education/training of foremen takes place twice a week during non working hours thus, the participants continue their everyday work acquiring experiences which derive from their theoretical training. The programme aims at providing all necessary knowledge and skill based on the real needs of a worksite. The total duration of the course is 530-hours distributed in 16 units, in three half-term periods. Apart from lectures, tuition comprises practical outdoor work where participants acquire experience especially on the use of surveying instruments and setting out of a building. Equally important are the visits to Materials Testing Laboratories where participants experience application of the prescribed methods for testing of materials such as aggregates, concrete and asphalting materials. The programme also includes visits to construction worksites. The education/training is carried out by Civil Engineers with extensive experience in both training and supervision of building and road works. The line of courses takes place at our premises in Larnaca.

With the successful completion of the program, professionals will be able to claim the relevant position in a worksite with all the benefits provided for the post.
